Unity Solutions (UES)

Lanxoma is a tool from security software supplier Unity Enterprise Solutions that helps organisations combat the security threat posed by internal IT workers with access to sensitive information.

The tool works by keeping a video record of the activity of IT workers – be they internal staff, contract workers or outsourced workers offshore.

In the event of a data breach, the activities of the relevant employees can be traced back. Not only does this help in damage limitation, but it will also act as a deterrent.

According to Manoj Patel, managing director of Unity Enterprise Solutions, the risk of a disgruntled employee compromising sensitive data has increased as redundancies have grown, and Lanxoma is an innovative approach to reducing that risk.

It's a unique approach to a very difficult problem. Most competing products try and collect keystrokes, mouse movements, video, etc. from all users all the time, which generates copious amounts of unmanageable data. Collecting these data only when someone gains access to a critical and protected asset makes perfect sense. Also, if I give my users a 10-minute window of access to complete a 10-minute task, it might also increase productivity.

An excellent video. The message really makes you think. It made me feel uncomfortable about the access some of our staff and contractors have. I want to have a closer look.
